Pantanal Ecoexplorer is the family run business of Carlos and Debora Grandez based in Cuiabá in the northern Pantanal. Its expertise are founded upon a lifetimes experience of guiding throughout Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina that has led to an in-depth knowledge of and comprehension of what is involved in guiding wildlife tours. Pantanal Ecoexplorer has also run trips in the Pantanal and Amazon for international tour companies including Dragoman Overland, Encounter, Exodus and South American Safaris for over 10 years.

Having specialized in the Pantanal for the past 15 years, Pantanal Ecoexplorer prides itself on its knowledge and experience in the region that allows it to customize each trip to the needs of its guests whilst taking into account the ever changing local conditions within the region. Tours

Each tour is specifically designed to meet the needs and requests of its group depending upon trip lengths, comfort level, method of transportation and particular interests. We always visit a selection of locations to maximize the variety of wildlife and ecosystems encountered and choose these according to actual local conditions within the region. We are able to take you anywhere within the Pantanal be it in the tracks of the elusive jaguar, on an adventure traveling deep into the heart of the region or for a relaxing break at several local lodges where the wildlife often comes to you! We know when and where to go, you just tell us what you want.

Groups We believe that small group size is key to the success of our tours. This is the only way to optimize our wildlife viewing chances, ensure a minimal impact upon the ecosystems we are observing, provide a personalized service and maintain the flexibility that will allow us to make the most of the region we are discovering. In particular we limit our jaguar tracking tours to a maximum of 4 people per group.

Our Guides

The guides we use are locals who have worked with us for many years and are experts in their domains. They are keen to share their knowledge and passion for their region and use their skills in locating and identifying the rich flora and fauna of the Pantanal as well as proving an insight into the culture and history of the region. For our special interest trips we use local specialized guides as well as our regular team.

Equipment We believe that having our own selection of vehicles and equipment allows us to provide a high quality specialized service that is reliable and yet flexible enabling us to explore deeper into areas that others don’t go. We have several all terrain air conditioned vehicles, our own comfortable houseboat and several smaller expedition boats for our river cruises as well as providing the specialized equipment for wildlife spotting and identification.

Resposible Tourism

Though under threat, the Pantanal is thankfully relatively untouched and we want to keep it that way. We believe that we are there to observe and wonder at the wonders it holds but never to interact and alter them. This is why we prefer small groups to go with our knowledgeable guides who will get you as close as possible to the animals without disturbing them and by using our own equipment and vehicles we can monitor and control our impact upon the region. In 2005 we finished building and supplying a school in the Amazon region and are keen to get our guests involved in such projects in the Pantanal particularly through our family tours.
