Enjoy the breathtaking vistas of Parque nacional da Chapada dos Guimarães.

This wildlife tour provides a great combination of activities, scenery and wildlife making the most of the ecological riches of the Mato Grosso region of Brazil. If you are after variety for your visit to Brazil then this tour is for you mixing amazing wildlife with hikes through spectacular scenery and snorkeling down crystal clear rivers. We will take you up to the Chapada dos Guimarães savannah land where you can hike through beautiful scenery to the many waterfalls found in the region and enjoy some stunning views from the plateau towards the Pantanal. We then head to the Nobres region, similar to the ecological centre of Bonito in the southern Pantanal but less developed and touristy. From here you can snorkel down crystal clear rivers filled with fish, visit local caves and grottos, relax by natural swimming pools and watch as the macaws come to rest in their palm trees every night. After this we will take you on a journey into the diversity and abundance of Pantanal wildlife. We will make safaris looking for anteaters and tapirs, explore the river banks for caiman and capybara, search for some of the more elusive nocturnal animals and see a wealth of birdlife that is scarcely believable. If you are looking for a mix of adventure, stunning scenery and beautiful wildlife then this tour is for you.

 

DAY 1 – CUIABA / PANTANAL ( Fazenda Pouso Alegre )
First we will travel 100km along a paved road, pass by the tonw of Pocne, then enter the Transpantaneira road, and continue for another 37 km on dirt road, we will have good chances to spot a good number of birds and other wildlife, stop frequently to see and photograph birds, including : egrets, herons,storks, ibises, lapwings, hawks, and others. We will arrive at Pouso Alegre in time for lunch, later in the afternoon we will go for a walking safari looking for more animals and birds. The region around Pouso Alegre is a mixture of open lands, marshy áreas and forested islands great for birding and wildlife viewing. After dinner, we will go for a night walking safari to spotlight night creatures, including foxes, raccoons, owls, spiders, snakes, and others. Overnight at Pousada Pouso Alegre.

DAY 2 - WALKING & HORSEBACK IN THE PANTANL LOWLANDS ( Fazenda Pouso Alegre )
Full day dedicated to observing the Pantanal's flora and fauna found on the Pouso Alegre private reserve. Early morning walk for bird and wildlife viewing. Return to the Lodge for Breakfast. After breakfasty we will take a Nature walk through the woods to learn more about the local environment and to see more wildlife, inlcuding : toucans, parrots, macaws, coati and capybaras, howler monkeys, Greter rheas, storks, and many others. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon your guide will lead you on a horseback ride to continue exploring the forest and grasslands to spot animals and birds, including rheas, marsh deer, armadillos, storks, coatis, capybaras, hyacinth macaws, howler monkeys, and a dozen of other animals and birds. After diner we will go out again for a night jeep safari with spotlights looking for more animals. Overnight at Pousada Pouso Alegre.

DAY 3 – PANTANAL EXPLORATIONS ( Pousada Rio Claro )
Early morning nature walk, return to the lodge for breakfast. After a break we pack up and depart for our next destination, we will drive another 25 km into the Pousada Rio Claro. This lodge is located on the banks of the pristine Rio Claro river, a different ecosystem compare to Pouso Alegre. Along the way we will make stops to enjoy the wildlife life encountered. After lunch siesta time. In the afternoon we will take a motorized boat trip along the Rio Claro river, look for giant river otters, tapirs, capybaras, caymans, holwer monkeys, storks, herons, and more. Time for piranha fishing. After diner we will go out again for a night jeep safari with spotlights looking for more animals, including : Crab-eating fox, pumas, anteaters, tapirs, and nocturnal birds. Overnight at Pousada Rio Claro.

DAY 4 - PANTANAL ( Pousada Rio Claro ) - CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES
Early morning breakfast, depart by car for exploration of the Transpantaneira road for further birding and wildlife spotting. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch departure to the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, we will drive 210 km. Arrive to the Chapada dos Guimaraes National park and visit some of the lookout points including: Salgadeira, Portão do Inferno, and Mirante Morro dos Ventos, this places provide great vistas of the region, you can enjoy the scenery. Arrive to the city Chapada dos Guimaraes for dinner and overnight at a Hotel Turismo.

DAY 5 – EXPLORE CHAPADA DOS GUIMARAES
Early breakfast, hotel check-out and departure to continue our exploration of the National Park, visits include Cidade-de-Pedra, Véu-de-Noiva waterfall, then we will hike along a trail to visit several small waterfalls, bath in crystal clear waterfalls. Picnic lunch along the way, then we travel 160km in to the Vila-de-Bom-Jardim, a small village located north-west from the Park. Check in, dinner and overnight at REINO ENCANTADO LODGE.

Day 6 – SNORKELING ADVETURES
Breakfast, full day exploration of the area. Activities include morning tour for Snorkeling amongst fish in the crystalline waters of the Rio Salobra. After lunch Swimming in another river full of fish and other aquatic life . By 5 pm we will visit a Small lake near the lodge, here we will see many blue and yellow macaws, they come to
Sleep in the Palm trees of the lake. It is an amazing experience. Return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight. REINO ENCANTADO LODGE.


Day 7 – BACK TO CUIABÁ

Early morning bush walk in the gallery forest in search of monkeys and birds, learn about local fruits and medicinal pants. Return to the lodge, for breakfast. One more time snorkeling trip for a last look of the River life. After lunch we will travel back to Cuiaba, we will drive 170 km, drop off at the airport or hotel. End of our services.

This simple lodge focuses on the nature around it with hyacinth macaws and toucans as well as many mammals regularly visiting its grounds. Here the wildlife of the Pantanal comes right up to your window allowing you to appreciate its riches at first hand. The lodge is a traditional cattle ranch of 10.000 hectares located 140 km from Cuiaba, and 7 km off the transpantaneira road. The Rooms are spacious and have private toilet, ceiling fan and Air-conditioning

POUSADA RIO CLARO : 
The lodge is located 3 km off the main road, it is located in the middle of a forested region and near a small tributary rich for bird and wildlife viewing.


HOTEL TURISMO
A traditional hotel in Chapada, right in the center of the town, it has nice rooms, private bath, hot water, and serve a great breakfast.

REINO ENCANTADO LODGE
This small lodge located in a hidden place, is a family house converted in a lodge, it hás nice rooms with private bath, hot water, and air-conditioning. Meals served at the lodge is typical Brazilian. The lodge is located 100 meters from the snorkeling point, very nice.


Pantanal Ecoexplorer offers a selection of vehicles and equipment, including several all-terrain air conditioned vehicles and small river boats, allowing us to provide high-quality specialized service that is both reliable and flexible.

Pick up from airport or bus terminal, 6 nights accommodations at lodges, full board in the Pantanal (breakfast, lunch and dinner), transfers in air-conditioned vehicles, guided excursions with bilingual guides with knowledge of local fauna and flora ( activities as mentioned in the program ).

>> What's not Included

Laundry, phone calls, person expenses, soft drinks/beverages, meals during transfers, airport taxes, drinks with the meals, optional night in Cuiabá, tours not described in the itinerary, medical expenses and hospitalization.

>> What to Bring

We recommend trekking or tennis shoes as well as a pair of sandals, lightweight clothes for warm weather with some long sleeved tops and trousers for mosquito protection. In addition lightweight raingear, swimsuit, hat or cap, film, mosquito repellent, binoculars, sunglasses, raincoat, flashlight, a woolen jacket and sweaters (from April to October), Vitamin B pills to be taken 3 days prior to arrival and during stay. Vitamin B acts as mosquito repellent.

 

For visitors to the Pantanal, we recommend the following items:

• hiking boots, trekking shoes or tennis shoes
• a pair of sandals
• a pair of flip flops (thongs)
• light clothes for warm weather
• a swimsuit
• a hat or cap (for protection from the sun)
• a pair of sunglasses
• long-sleeved tops and long pants (for mosquito protection)
• lightweight rain gear/raincoat (October through May)
• a wool jacket, sweatshirt, and/or sweater ( April to October)
• mosquito repellent (Vitamin B acts a mosquito repellent and should be taken 3 days prior to arrival and throughout the length of you stay)
• sunscreen
• toiletries
• binoculars
• a flashlight
• camera/film equipment

Campers will also need the following:

• a sleeping bag (Pantanal Ecoexplorer will provide a tent, mosquito net, and roll mat)
