Fazenda Pouso Alegre / Lodge-based Tour
This 3-day Pantanal tour will take you on a voyage of discovery along the Transpantaneira Highway, (the Pantanal´s most popular destination), a scenic road with more than 100 bridges that span small creeks, lagoons and rivers. Along the way you'll come into direct contact with the flora and fauna of the Pantanal - jacaré, capybaras, jabiru storks, macaws and white egrets surrounding the bridges and other water ways.
This package includes stays at the Fazenda Pouso Alegre, a traditional cattle ranch. Today, it is an eco-lodge on 11,000 hectares of seasonal wetlands, knee-deep floodplains, rich forest areas, forested islands, and rich savannah grasslands. Situated 7km off from the main Transpantaneira Highway, it is located 150 km from Cuiaba, 40 km from the small city of Pocone, far away from the crowds. Here you are deep into the Pantanal where you can take boat safaris, game drives, horseback safaris, nature walks; you will most likely be treated to up-close views of anteaters, capybaras, marsh deer, armadillos, caymans, anacondas, giant otters, pumas, storks, ibis, toucans, Hyacinth macaws, rheas, herons, monkeys , capybaras, and dozens of other mammals and birds. Here the wildlife of the Pantanal comes right up to your window allowing you to appreciate its riches at first han.

DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: CUIABÁ / PANTANAL LODGE: FAZENDA POUSO ALEGRE
In Cuiaba a guide will pick you up at the airport and depart to the Pantanal at 13:30, driving for about 1 hour to reach the famous Transpantaneira Road. This is one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the world. Here you can admire the flora and fauna along the Transpantaneira and make several stops on the way to film or take photographs. Arrival at Fazenda Pouso Alegre late in the afternoon, check-in and dinner will be served. The “Fazenda” is a traditional cattle ranch, converted into an eco-lodge on 8,500 hectares of open lands and forested islands. The Fazenda is located 7 km off from the main Transpantaneira road, here you are deep into the Pantanal. After dinner we take a night Truck Safari with spotlights, drive along the private road of the lodge, we will watch for Pumas, tapirs, anteaters, nocturnal birds and other animals common to this region. Overnight at Pouso Alegre.
DAY 2: PANTANAL EXPEDITIONS AT FAZENDA POUSO ALEGRE
After breakfast there is the opportunity for an early morning walk to explore the trails through the forest surrounding the Fazenda Pouso Alegre. Return prior to lunch in time to relax and explore some on your own. Fazenda Pouso Alegre is an excellent location for bird watching. After lunch, in the afternoon you will take a boat tour of the Rio Clarinho, a wildlife-rich river; see monkeys, many bird species, capybaras, caimans, along the banks of the river. The Rio Clarinho it is also one of the best sites for predictable viewing wild Giant Otters from a distance of only 3 to 16 feet away. Often they will come close to the boat, craning their necks, and snorting loudly. After the boat trip you will take a Photo Safari by open truck, you will be driving along the Tranpantaneira Highway to see a great variety of birds and wildlife. Overnight at Fazenda Pouso Alegre.
DAY 3: PANTANAL LODGE: FAZENDA POUSO ALEGRE / CUIABÁ
After an early breakfast, you can go horseback riding in the Pantanal looking for mammals and birds in the open grasslands, and forested islands surrounding the lodge. After lunch drive 1 hour along the Trasnpantaneira back to the town of Pocone and then 1 hour on asphalt to Cuiaba.

 This simple lodge focuses on the nature around it with hyacinth macaws and toucans as well as many mammals regularly visiting its grounds. Here the wildlife of the Pantanal comes right up to your window allowing you to appreciate its riches at first hand. The lodge is a traditional cattle ranch of 10.000 hectares located 140 km from Cuiaba, and 7 km off the transpantaneira road. The Rooms are spacious and have private toilet, ceiling fan and Air-conditioning

WHAT'S INCLUDED
Pick up from airport or bus terminal, 2 nights accommodations at lodges, full board in the Pantanal (breakfast, lunch and dinner), transfers in air-conditioned vehicles, guided excursions with bilingual guides with knowledge of local fauna and flora ( activities as mentioned in the program ).
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED
Laundry, phone calls, person expenses, soft drinks/beverages, meals during transfers, airport taxes, drinks with the meals, optional night in Cuiabá, tours not described in the itinerary.
WHAT TO BRING
We recommend trekking or tennis shoes as well as a pair of sandals, lightweight clothes for warm weather with some long sleeved tops and trousers for mosquito protection. In addition lightweight raingear, swimsuit, hat or cap, film, mosquito repellent, binoculars, sunglasses, raincoat, flashlight, a woolen jacket and sweaters (from April to October), Vitamin B pills to be taken 3 days prior to arrival and during stay. Vitamin B acts as mosquito repellent. |
