Lodge-based Tour
This 7 day tour will take you on an exploration of 65 km of the Transpantaneira road, a scenic road with more than 100 bridges that span small creeks, lagoons and rivers. Along the way you'll come into direct contact with the flora and fauna of the Pantanal, such as jacaré, capybaras, jabiru storks, macaws and white egrets surrounding the bridges and other water ways. There is a good chance of seeing anacondas sunning themselves in the afternoon.
Activities include: Walking tours, birding tours, piranha fishing, spotlighting tours, wildlife photography, boat tours, horseback riding tours, jeep safaris, Trekking, canoeing, and we also have a unique river cruise down the Cuiabá river to search for Jaguars and other elusive wildlife.This package includes stays at three different Pantanal lodges, including the Pousada Piuval, Hotel Fazenda Pouso Alegre and Puma Lodge. We have selected these lodges for the diversity they offer of wildlife and ecosystems to provide you with a rich insight into the region.

DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 – CUIABA – PANTANAL LODGE / POUSADA PIUVAL
Reception at Cuiaba airport and transfer to the Pantanal, have lunch along the way. Drive along the Transpantaneira road, stops for photo opportunities, arrive at Pousada Piuval late afternoon. Check in time to rest. This is a fazenda converted in a Pousada, great views of the pantanal. After dinner we take a night safari by car. Overnight at Pousada Piuval.
DAY 2 – PANTANAL EXPLORATIONS AT POUSADA PIUVAL
Full day exploration of the lodge area, morning nature walks, afternoon boat trip, wildlife viewing drives, great scenery, abundant bird and animal life. After dinner take a night safari by car to see nocturnal animals. Overnight at Pousada Piuval.
DAY 3 – TRANSPANTANEIRA SAFARI
After an early breakfast, pack up and drive another 40 km into our next accommodation, stops along the way to look for animals and birds. Arrive to the Fazenda Pouso Alegre in time for lunch. In the afternoon we take a horseback safari to continue exploring this incredible area teeming with wildlife, look for anteaters, armadillos, tapirs, peccaries, coati, lizards, snakes, monkeys, toucans, falcons, storks, macaws, parrots and other wild animals. After dinner we take a night trip by car with spotlights to look for night creatures. Overnight at Fazenda Pouso Alegre.
DAY 4 – PANTANAL EXPLORATIONS AT FAZENDA POUSO ALEGRE
After breakfast there is the opportunity for an early morning walk to explore the trails through the forest surrounding the Fazenda Pouso Alegre. Return prior to lunch in time to relax and explore some on your own. Fazenda Pouso Alegre is an excellent location for bird watching. After lunch, in the afternoon you will take a boat tour of the Rio Clarinho, a wildlife-rich river; see monkeys, many bird species, capybaras, caimans, along the banks of the river. The Rio Clarinho it is also one of the best sites for predictable viewing wild Giant Otters from a distance of only 3 to 16 feet away. Often they will come close to the boat, craning their necks, and snorting loudly. After the boat trip you will take a Photo Safari by open truck, you will be driving along the Tranpantaneira Highway to see a great variety of birds and wildlife. After dinner we take a night safari with spotlights to look for animals. Overnight at Fazenda Pouso Alegre.
DAY 5 - PANTANAL OVERLAND EXPLORATION - TRASNPANTANEIRA SAFARI
Following an early breakfast soon after daybreak, we depart and travel another 80 km into the richest and lowest regions of the Transpantaneira road. Keep your eyes peeled for endangered marsh deer, South American coati, anaconda, giant anteater, toco toucan, hyacinth macaw, and a host of other animals. Arrive at the Pousada Puma Lodge, for lunch. Mid-afternoon, we set out into the field again, but this time we go for a nature walk, this region have open lands and forested islands, good places to see wildlife, this area is less visited by the crowds of tourism. Return to the lodge for dinner, after dinner we will go for a night safari by jeep with spotlights, good chances to see jaguar and small cats, we will be traveling along the Jaguar reserve. Return to Puma lodge and overnight.
DAY 6 – RIVER EXPLORATIONS / IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE JAGUAR
Following an early breakfast we depart by car and travel another 20 km to visit one of the most beautiful places of this region : Campos do Joffre, a very rich wildlife area, here we have seen jaguars hunting for caimans and capybaras. Then we continue another 10 km into Porto Joffre, here we will embark on our aluminum boat and travel along the Cuiaba river, and explore the Meeting of the waters state park searching for jaguaras. Here we have 90 % chances to see Jaguar, specially from June to August, we can see them hunting or resting along the river banks, sometimes swimming across the river or hiding in the woods waiting for pray .We will do some fishing for piranhas, we also will be looking for giant river otters, anacondas, caimans,and monkeys. Return to the lodge , spotlighting along the way looking for jaguars and other wildlife. Dinner and Overnight at the Puma Lodge.
DAY 7 – BACK TO CUIABA
Early morning hike to observe the sunrise, and bird watching. After breakfast, we will take a hike through the wilderness of the Pantanal or if you prefer we can go for horseback riding tour to explore seldom visited areas to see more wildlife. Return to Cuiabá after lunch. Along the way you'll come into direct contact with the flora and fauna of the Pantanal, such as jacaré, capybaras, jabiru storks, macaws and white egrets surrounding the bridges and other water ways. There is a good chance of seeing anacondas sunning themselves in the afternoon. Arrive in Cuiaba, drop off at the airport or your hotel.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
POUSADA PIUVAL
 The Inn Piuval is 110 km from Cuiabá and 10 km from Poconé being transpantaneira first hostel of the highway.
It has an area of 7,000 ha of land and has one of the most beautiful landscapes Pantanal. it is diverse fauna and flora.
The vast Pantanal of Mato Grosso is the largest floodplain of planeta. exuberante kingdom of water, an oasis of wildlife in an area 230,000 km ².
FAZENDA POUSO ALEGRE :
 This simple lodge focuses on the nature around it with hyacinth macaws and toucans as well as many mammals regularly visiting its grounds. Here the wildlife of the Pantanal comes right up to your window allowing you to appreciate its riches at first hand. The lodge is a traditional cattle ranch of 10.000 hectares located 140 km from Cuiaba, and 7 km off the transpantaneira road. The Rooms are spacious and have private toilet, ceiling fan and Air-conditioning
PUMA LODGE
This small and quiet lodge located deep at Km 130 of the transpantaneira road, in the vicinity of the Jaguar Ecological Reserve. It has 7 guest rooms air-conditioning and with ceiling fans, private bathrooms, and screened-in windows providing fresh air. There is also satellite TV, telephone, and a restaurant with excellent typical food of the region, where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Between the activities and meals, you can enjoy the swimming-pool to refresh. The lodge and the Reserve is the key place for spotting smaller cats that live in the Pantanal, and with luck and patience, you can look into the eyes of the biggest cat of the Americas: the jaguar.

WHAT TO BRING
We recommend trekking or tennis shoes as well as a pair of sandals, lightweight clothes for warm weather with some long sleeved tops and trousers for mosquito protection. In addition lightweight raingear, a sun hat and swimming gear. Personal medications, insect repellant and sunscreen are a must as well as all your camera equipment!
