This is the ultimate Pantanal wildlife adventure tour intended for adventurous and intrepid travelers. It is completely and deliberately off the beaten track, with only a very remotes chance of encountering other tour parties. This is an excellent opportunity for people, especially nature lovers, who would like to go deep into the Pantanal and spend more time exploring it, away from the tourist hordes. Enjoy spectacular wildlife viewing, superb birds, land & river exploration, Track jaguars, anteaters, tapirs and other animals, in some of the most remote and unspoiled regions of the North Pantanal. Other activities includes horseback rides, game drives, walks in the wilderness, spotlighting trips, boat tours and more. During this tour you will explore The Pantanal de Caceres, this region is one of the world's richest natural reserve and a migratory stopover for ibis, ducks, storks, herons, egrets and many other species. There are over 400 species of birds scientifically identified. The area has a diverse variety of ecosystems including, savanna lowlands and grasslands, seasonal wetlands, some beautiful lakes, wilderness rivers full of wildlife and rich forest areas.
On this trip, you will have the unrivaled experience of viewing truly undisturbed wildlife at very close range. You should easily observe up to 400 species of birds, several species of monkeys, caiman, capybara, lizards, tapirs, marsh deer, river otters, giant anteaters, deer, peccaries, and with good luck a jaguar.
Besides this, you can live the day-to-day life of an authentic Pantanal cowboy, savor typical local dishes and sleep in a traditional house which offers all the necessary.

 

WILDERNESS ADVENTURE TOUR / OFF THE BEATEN PATH  / GENERAL INTEREST TRIP

DAY 1 – CUIABA – PANTANAL DE CACERES

Reception at Cuiaba airport, depart for the pantanal. First we travel 250 km on an asphalt road, then we drive along a hidden trail for another 80 km, we will have a pick nick lunch style along the way. Stop when we see interesting wildlife for photos. The travel time until we reach the Wilderness Camp will take approximately 6 hours, the Camp is located in a remote region totally off the beaten path. Arrive to the Camp in the afternoon, this secluded Fazenda is cattle ranch owned by a local pantaneiro family. Time to rest, or just enjoy the scenery, there are a lot of birds and other wildlife that come around the lodge, including hyacinth macaws,( in this Farm we can see this incredible specie for sure, they come to sleep in the trees surrounding the lodge). Later in the afternoon we go for a walk in the forests in search of monkeys, rodents, and birds. We will also spend time in an observatory hide, waiting for tapirs that come to swim at a hidden lake. After diner we will go for a night safari by car in search for nocturnal wildlife, looking for foxes, crab eating raccoons, owls, pumas, ocelots, and other night wildlife. Overnight at wilderness Camp.

DAY 2 – PANTANAL WILDLIFE VIEWING TOURS / OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Full day dedicated to observing the Pantanal's flora and fauna found on the Fazenda Santa Lucia private reserve. Early morning Jungle walk for bird and wildlife spotting. After breakfast your guide will lead you on a horseback ride to continue exploring the forest and grasslands to spot animals and birds, including rheas, marsh deer, armadillos, storks, coatis, capybaras, hyacinth macaws, howler monkeys, and a dozen of other animals and birds. Return to the Camp for Lunch. Time to rest, or just enjoy the scenery, there are a lot of birds that come around the Camp. In the afternoon we go for paddling boat trip on a secluded and beautiful lake, this region has a large concentration of rare birds and mammals such as capybaras, capuchin monkeys, tapirs, howler monkeys, giant river otters, and many storks, ibis, herons, hawks, toucans, and others. After diner we will go for a night safari by car in search for nocturnal wildlife, looking for foxes, crab eating raccoons, owls, pumas, ocelots, and other night wildlife. Overnightat wilderness Camp.

DAY 3 – Jaguar Photo Safári by Boat at TAIAMA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE
Full day boat tour to explore the Taiama Ecological Reserve, the reserve is located along the Paraguay river, the area has the highest density of Jaguar population in the entire Brazilian Pantanal, we have great chances to spot jaguars, we have 95 % chances to see Jaguar, specially from mid June to mid November. Early start, breakfast, pack up, depart by car, drive 20 k into the port, embark in our motorized boat and  travel downstream along the Paraguay river to the Estação Ecológica do Taiama, along the way we will also see other wildlife including giant river otters, caimans, capybaras, and many bird species. We will explore small channels and lakes, quite often we find the jaguars on the river banks, recent guest have seen several of these huge predators, during the day, many of them at very close range for extended periods.
Late afternoon we set up camp along the shores of the Paraguay river. After dinner we take a night safari with spotlights by boat in search for Jaguars. Dinner and overnight. Bush camping

DAY 4 – Jaguar Photo Safári by Boat at TAIAMA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE
Early start,  brakfast, pack up, start our journey back to Wilderness Camp, first we travel upstream along the Paraguay river, then we sawp to our car and drive 20 km into the Camp. Along the way we will explore small channels and lakes of the Taiama Ecological Reserve in search for Jaguars and other wildlife. Note, this is a particularly good area for giant river otters, tapirs, capybaras, and great fishing (for those who want to fish).  We will arrive to the Camp in time for dinner. After diner we will go out again for a night jeep safari with spotlights looking for more animals. Overnight at Wilderness Camp.

DAY 5 – WILDLIFE & WILDERNESS EXPLORATIONS / OFF THE BEATEN PATH                                                       
Today we head off the beaten track deeper into the Pantanal where few others go, in fact you will be unlikely to encounter anyone but pantanerios working on isolated farms. Travel  by open truck, exploring remoter areas to see more elusive wildlife, along the way we will pass several ecosystems, keep your eyes peeled for endangered marsh deer, South American coati, anaconda, giant anteater, toco toucan, tapirs, armadillos, hyacinth macaw, mane wolf, and a host of other animals and birds. By lunch time we arrive at a remote fazenda, we will have the opportunity to savor typical local dishes and sleep in a traditional Pantaneiro family house. In the afternoon we go for a canoe trip in a small river looking for giant river otters, fish for piranhas, nature observation and birding opportunities. After diner we will go for a night safári by car in search for nocturnal wildlife, looking for foxes, crab eating raccoons, owls, pumas, ocelots, and other night wildlife.

DAY 6 – WILDLIFE & WILDERNESS EXPLORATIONS / OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Early start, breakfast, pack up, depart and drive into another interesting area for wilderness and wildlife explorations. We have a variety of explorations by horse, on foot, and jeeps to continue our wildlife tracking, this is a particularly good area for tapirs, mane wolf, giant anteaters, armadillos, howler monkeys, hyacinth macaws, toucans, capybaras, lizards, anacondas, deer’s, and other elusive wildlife. Late afternoon we set up camp in the wilds near a small lake. After diner we will go for a night safari by car in search for nocturnal wildlife, looking for foxes, crab eating raccoons, owls, pumas, ocelots, and other night wildlife. Bush camping. Overnight. 

DAY 7 – PANTANAL DE CACERES - CUIABA 
Early start,  breakfast, pack up, start our journey back to Cuiabá, drive 370 km into Cuiabá. We will have a pick nick lunch style along the way. Stop when we see interesting wildlife for photos. Arrive in Cuiba late in the afternoon, transfer to a hotel or to the Airport, end o four services.

WILDERNESS CAMP
A small ranch with basic accommodations in simple rooms, shared bathroom, and hot showers. There 4 rooms, each one has ceiling fan. There is electricity to charge batteries.

FAZENDA PANTANEIRA / FAMILY HOUSE
A cattle ranch with basic facilities, communal showers and toilets. Sleep in tents or hammocks.

WILDERNESS BUSH CAMPING
bush camp with no conventional washing facilities whatsoever.
Bath in the river. Sleep in tents or hammocks.

TRANSPORTATION:
AIRCONDITIONED VEHICLE: This car is to transport you the first and the last day of the tour.
OPEN TRUCK: this OPEN TRUCK is to explore the wilderness and to offer you a better view for wildlife spotting.
RIVER BOAT: motor boat comfortable for 6 persons, good sits, good space for equipment and luggage.

Pick up from airport or bus terminal, 6 nights accommodations at lodges, full board in the Pantanal (breakfast, lunch and dinner), transfers in air-conditioned vehicles, guided excursions with bilingual guides with knowledge of local fauna and flora ( activities as mentioned in the program ).

>> What's not Included

Laundry, phone calls, person expenses, soft drinks/beverages, meals during transfers, airport taxes, drinks with the meals, optional night in Cuiaba, tours not described in the itinerary, medical expenses and hospitalization.

>> What to Bring

We recommend trekking or tennis shoes as well as a pair of sandals, lightweight clothes for warm weather with some long sleeved tops and trousers for mosquito protection. In addition lightweight raingear, swimsuit, hat or cap, film, mosquito repellent, binoculars, sunglasses, raincoat, flashlight, a woolen jacket and sweaters (from April to October), Vitamin B pills to be taken 3 days prior to arrival and during stay. Vitamin B acts as mosquito repellent.

For visitors to the Pantanal, we recommend the following items:

• hiking boots, trekking shoes or tennis shoes
• a pair of sandals
• a pair of flip flops (thongs)
• light clothes for warm weather
• a swimsuit
• a hat or cap (for protection from the sun)
• a pair of sunglasses
• long-sleeved tops and long pants (for mosquito protection)
• lightweight rain gear/raincoat (October through May)
• a wool jacket, sweatshirt, and/or sweater ( April to October)
• mosquito repellent (Vitamin B acts a mosquito repellent and should be taken 3 days prior to arrival and throughout the length of you stay)
• sunscreen
• toiletries
• binoculars
• a flashlight
• camera/film equipment

Campers will also need the following:

• a sleeping bag (Pantanal Ecoexplorer will provide a tent, mosquito net, and roll mat)
